20 Questions Being Asked by Recreation Practitioners

1. Why isn't there more funding for health promotions and literacy in Canada?
2.  Why is the government downloading services to volunteers without providing appropriate supports?
3. Why is sport and recreation important?
4. Why is it that organizations in the field do not recognize educational/experiential backgrounds from other fields that not only connect to the field but enhance it? Why is High Five training a requirement?
5. Why have we not regulated therapeutic recreation to protect clients and professionals?
6. Why aren't we doing more to train and coach recreation staff and volunteers as community leaders?
7.  Why aren't more dollars spent on upstream and healthy promotion initiatives?
8. Why are the municipalities in isolation to other providers? A holistic view is needed.
9. Who is advocating for all children especially those who do not have access to recreation programs?
10. Who are we serving and what do they want?
11. Where is the best place to find current and up to date information on regulation, legislation and standards that guide and affect the parks and recreation sector?
12.  Where is all of the raw data - or compiled data stored. and I am referring to hard data statistics - everything from efficiency rates & productivity stats to usage and effective capacities
