Norm Campbell has been involved in the recreation field for over 40 years. The first 25 years of his
career were spent working with the City of Moose Jaw in various capacities - including as a Recreation Programmer, Facility Manager, Manager of Special Projects, and as the Recreation Director. While in Moose Jaw, Norm was involved with the South Central Regional Recreation Association as a Board member, with the Zone 3 Sport Council as Chair, and as a member of the Provincial Regional Associations Committee. Norm was also involved in a number of different capacities with the Saskatchewan Summer and Winter Games programs.
In 2000, he accepted his current position as Chief Executive Officer of the Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation. Norm has since played a key role on many provincial and national committees - including sitting on The Premier’s Voluntary Sector Initiative Committee, serving on the Canadian Recreation Facilities Council (CRFC) as Chair of their Strategic Planning Task Group, and as a member of the CRFC Constitution Revision Committee.
Norm also sits in an ex-officio capacity on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association (CPRA). He helped develop a new Governance Structure for CPRA, Chaired the CPRA Constitution Review and Revision Task Group and was a member of the CPRA Governance Transition Team. In addition, Norm also sat on the National Recreation Framework Working Group and was a member of the Subcommittee that was responsible for writing the Pathways to Wellbeing: A Framework for Recreation in Canada. He is currently a member of the CPRA Finance and Operations Committee and the Governance Review Task Group.
In Saskatchewan, Norm sits on a number of different committees and works with a variety of strategic partners, including the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport, Sask Sport, SaskCulture, the Community Initiatives Fund, the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA) and the Saskatchewan Non Profit Partnership Group. Norm is a strong supporter of the parks and recreation sector at the local, provincial and national levels.
