Is it finding ways to measure outcomes? Remind me what are the outcomes we are trying to achieve?
Is success the number of Recreation Centres we have in Canada; the number of tennis courts, trails or football fields?
Is success the size of our budgets?
Is success the number of volunteers contributing to the Sector?
Is it the impact the Sector has on national and provincial policies related to healthy Canadians?
Or is it the number of folks passing through the turnstiles and revenue collected?
Is success measured by the number of healthy, strong, influential national organizations in place?
Is success measured by the number of healthy, strong, influential provincial organizations in place?
Is success measured by the ability to mobilize all of the national, provincial and local sector resources to support a National Framework for Recreation with 5 directional priorities?
Is success having a national information hub; the Leisure Information Network?
Is success having the world renowned Recreation Benefits Hub?
Is success having a valid statistical data base for the Recreation Sector that reflects the economic impact, number of jobs, number and kind of facilities in place in Canada?
Is success having a rich research agenda that reflects all aspects of the Recreation Sector?
Is success measured by consistent, long term funding from funders at all levels in the Sector?
Is success measured by strong policy and financial support from Provincial governments?
Is success measured by a logical sorting of activity organizations through mergers, acquisitions, collations, collaborations, partnerships and terminations?
Is success measured by the number of personal fiefdoms dominating the national landscape?
Is success counted by the smiles on the faces of happy kids?

Looks like the Recreation Sector could create its own Report Card!!
