WHY COMPLETE THE LIN SURVEY

The Leisure Information Network is winding down its operation after 22 years.

LIN believes that Canada needs an information hub devoted to Canadian content for the Recreation and Leisure Sector. LIN has 2000 subscribers to the Newsletter and there are 300 downloads of LIN pdf articles everyday.

The National Recreation Framework identified Knowledge Development/Knowledge Management as an area of emphasis:
Support a pan-Canadian, comprehensive knowledge development strategy that increases support for:
  • recreation research and data collection carried out by universities and colleges, the not-for-profit sector, provincial/territorial, local and Aboriginal governments, with special attention to applied research at the community level
  • the national recreation information system so that all those planning and delivering recreation services have access to the latest evidence
  • collaborative efforts among governments, recreation associations and colleges and universities to develop new recreation programs and services that meet the evolving and expanding needs within communities.
When the National Recreation Database was first spoken of in 1986-88 the digital world was just beginning to unfold. The tools were rudimentary compared to what we have today. In the early days finding information was the challenge but today finding the right information is the challenge. Google does an incredible job of identifying information that is on the internet. LIN has customized resources into theme groups and initiated curation groups.

What we need now is more information about your needs and preferences to kick start a new generation of knowledge sharing in the Leisure/Recreation Sector.
FILLING OUT THE SURVEY WILL CONTRIBUTE SOME VITAL INFORMATION IN DESIGNING AN EFFECTIVE  KNOWLEDGE SHARING APPROACH.

PLEASE COMPLETE THE SURVEY AND HELP THE PROCESS. PLEASE PASS IT ON TO YOUR COLLEAGUES
